Firenze!

(Corrie modeling the cute shawls we have to wear in the churches)

Cooking class and wine tasting were on Tuesday and then on Thursday we went to Florence (Firenze). First we split up and went off with our Italian teachers. Our teacher, Danielle, took us to a little market and handed us a "florence quiz". We had to walk around and ask random italians random questions about florence which turned out to be really fun. Some of the people we asked were cranky but we just started asking store keepers who looked bored and they were really excited to help!

Next we met up with our art history teacher and class at the Uffizi. It was amazing and I honestly can't describe the experience. You just have to go. I could have stayed in there for years, just looking at each painting and finding all the hidden characters and the emotions and the myths and the stories, ah! I was dragged out of each room. My favorite was seeing Da Vinci's sketches in person (I adore his sketches) and seeing the statue of Perseus! Ah! The real thing, the original was just sitting outside for the public to see, I couldn't believe it.

My teacher then ran us around the rest of the city to show us the Duomo of Firenze, the "Doors of Paradise" and other churches around the city that had art work we had been studying about.

We left Siena at 8am and got back at 8pm so it was a full day!
