SUN!!! In Siena!!

Finally!! Today it was extremely sunny and nice and HOT! No more rain! (please please please)

Yesterday I was doing my homework in the Campo with Michelle (everyone else we hangout with has afternoon class so we have 4 hours of homework and exploring without interruptions each day). My hair was fully curly and we were just sitting in the sun reading our history books when all of a sudden a bunch of American tourists started taking pictures of us! They thought we were Italian!!!!!!! YEEEESSSSSSS

Then an Italian man who was tanning nearby scooted over and started talking to us in Italian about our classes. ITALIANS THOUGHT WE WERE ITALIANS TOO!!!

Obviously I was ecstatic. Everyday I've been trying to blend in as much as I can.

Last night we had our welcome dinner with everyone in the program which was really nice. Dinner took about 5 hours but it was really nice to enjoy each others company. The food was amazing as well and we were able to talk to our teachers after class as if they were a fellow student instead of a professor. The whole group is really close and family like.

I ended up talking to my art history teacher a lot last night. When she found out I was religious studies she got excited and said she had a bunch of books for me to read. She was also able to tell me where to find some more of the contrada fountains but unfortunately I'm going to have to ask her again because I was unable to find them today.

Afterwards we went to a Contrada party for the Wave contrada. When I showed up I was in shock, they were playing Johnny Cash and Elvis songs...
It was a party for the Palio and they were blasting American music, including a bunch of hill billy songs... eventually we all got over the shock and taught Italians how to swing dance and dance like your at a texas hoe down.

Today was really sunny and Michelle and I explored a new part of Siena. Then I went to watch the calcio game in my Iaquinta jersey G got me =) I fit in with all the Italians except I would scream "Go GO GO!" and they screamed "ENDEAMO!". The game was intense and had a lot of dirty playing from Italy. But after seeing how they love to cut me in line at the grocery store and how they drive I wasn't surprised in the least.

After juggling a bunch of travel plans we had decided to go to Venice for the weekend but found out that the trains are going on strike tomorrow. Instead we are waking up at 6am to get on a bus before the strikes and head to the beach! Hiking and tanning and getting some z's on the Italian coast sounds good to me =)
